Persyn Law & Policy advocates for California child trauma bill

May 29, 2016 Mary Kelly Persyn

Persyn Law & Policy was proud to sign on to a letter that Children Now wrote to Assemblymember Lorena Gonzalez in support of Assembly Bill 1644. Sponsored by Assemblymember Rob Bonta, the bill creates the HEAL Trauma in Schools Act "to support schools in their efforts to lessen the impacts of trauma." The expanded Early Mental Health Initiative services target children from preschool to 3rd grade--a time that we know is crucial to the developing brain.

Persyn Law & Policy was very proud to join other advocates for children in supporting AB 1644, which has now passed out of the Education, Health, and (crucially) Appropriations committees of the California Assembly.

You can read the letter and review its signers here.
